A question for the owners....

I have never owned a Toyota, Scion.....

If you had one complaint (aside from power) what would it be? How bad is the power situation? I am looking at buying one, and just cannot determine from a test drive how serious the problem is. How is it on space? Any help?

one complaint...i have to say that its sucks that it doesnt have a map light...

i got no problems with the power of the xB. well, it got more power than an '89 Tercel...

"how is it on space?" - do you mean parking space? well, to tell you the truth, its freaking easy to park into a compact space and you can even open the doors!

go take a test drive and decide. good luck!

I love my box.... but, a couple of complaints....

No FACTORY option for cruise control... but that can be alleviated easily.

Radio controls on a TC wheel, but not the xB wheel. Anyone that has used an iPod interfaced radio will attest to this.... give me steering wheel radio controls!! waaaaa

Power, well, that's a given. I won't touch that topic again.

Other than those few things, it's a wonderful vehicle.

Check out Scionlife.com for more info.

The tilt wheel does not tilt very much. And it should have DRLs.

xB power and space

I have owned many small autos, including 60s VW Beetles (the real air-cooled ones). The Scion xB out powers any small car I have ever had and has about 5 times the interior space. If you're really concerned about "power", get a standard tranny, but you don't need it.

The one thing that I can add is that the gearing (for manual transmission) is more for city driving...it has lots of pep for your local stop and go driving but when your cruising on the freeway the RPMs get up there even at 65-70mph...I wish they made the final gearing higher or lower (i always get those two confused!).

There is a cruise control option, its $349, i have it on my XB manual. I love this thing, 1 yr and 1 month old, 29K miles already. Costs me nothing. I get on avg 35mpg.

They meant "Factory" cruise. which is not an option (yet)

I've had one for a year and love it more than I thought. These little cars seem to get under your skin.

I will echo the lack of a map light as a problem. It's not a show stopper, but it would've been nice. Otherwise, I love my xB.

USA Wish list for the xB

I, like many others, wish for a map light and REALLY REALLY want an arm rest! Other than that, I have nothing but praise for the xB. I also owned an xA. Bought it in Sept '05. It was a 2006. Rolled it in Nov 2005 and lived to tell the tail! If you removed the interior from the inside of that car after the wreck, you would never have known it was rolled! I walked away from it (as soon as it stopped rolling....) !
The only reason I went to an xB the second time was my wife and I found out we are having TWINS and an xA is a little small for TWO car seats! Love both models though...

I put 170,000 miles on an '89 Tercel, then gave it to my niece who drove it a few more years. I just picked up an '06 xB, Blue Onyx Pearl. The only options I got, so far, are iPod integration and XM Radio, both of which will be installed next week.

Thumbs up Volume and channel controls...

I jus purchased an 06xb a month ago, and the steering wheel does have the radio controls on it... Also check the dealership b/c cruise was only $249... But all in all, I love my XB...By the way, has anyone ran across what it is classified as? A Wagon!!!

Hi ...just bought an "xb" last friday , of course I am 80 yrs old and not a " HOT RODDER " but we sold our LICOLN TOWN CAR and bought the XB... we love it and as far as power it has plenty for the hills here in BREMERTON WA. Pop it out of o/d for a little more power up a hill

we like the room as no bending and sqirming to get in the car. Our son in ABQ NM has one and he gets 35mpg with stick shift ...I call it THE CRACKER BOX WITH WHEELS ha ha

I rellay don't think you can go wrong Norm
