Alarm problem

I have an 04 xb with a factory alarm system. Almost every time when the alarm is armed and i unlock the vehicle with the fob, the alarm triggers and the door locks itself. Any ideas. Also the left rear door locks actuator is not working, haven't replaced it yet but it went out months before this started happening. I don't know if this has anything to do with it tho. Any ideas?

It sounds to me like you have an aftermarket system that requires a separate remote from the Toyota/Scion factory keyless system.

Did you buy the car new or used?

I bought the car used. It uses the factory keyless entry remote.

Ive been messing around with this trying to figure it out. I think the door lock actuator might be causing the problem. I disconnected the drivers door lock actuator and set the alarm. After it being set, is proceeded to disarm and it was fine, the alarm did not go off anymore. I tried arming and disarming it several times and it was working fine. I think the door lock is somehow faulty and triggering the alarm to sound when i unlock/disarm the car. What do you guys think?

Anything is possible. Electrical systems can be funny like that. I've seen a bad lightbulb feed back into the ECU and cause every light on the dash to shine bright as day, turns out the filament was shorting the wiring harness.

You might want to ask your local dealer so shop to check your actuator but that might be an issue. Might not be opening the circut???
