Question stock xb radio

hi, im new to the forum and my family just bought a new xb, and i looked forward to the radio since it can play .mp3 format. but when i put it in, it only played 8 songs out of like 200 and then when i put all the songs into folders thinking that would fix it, it will only play a couple songs from each folder, but it will play all the songs from one folder. how can i get it to play right? thanks for the help!

hey lazlow..
did you burn the disc as a "disc at once" method? I had this problem too with my tC radio, I was using Roxio easy cd-creator.. it was not updated to the newest patch (my cd-burner was newer than the software).. Eventually I got tired of Roxio being tempermental (sometimes would burn right other times it wouldn't). I went and bought Nero 6 and now burns everything fine.. Make sure you burn the disc as a data disc not an MP3 disc.. since that formats it funky.. won't read it correctly like you're mentioning.. I also found that the brand of blank CD makes a huge difference.. FujiFilm at Best Buy (10 pack of CD-R, says made in japan on the back) works great.. the cheap ones from sony and tdk did not work that well (took a long time to read them)..

so let us know how it goes..

good news

ok i got the fujifilm CDs, but i dont know if that actually helped because it was how i burned the CD that made it work. i use easy CD creator 5, and i was trying to burn it as a data CD, and i tried as an mp3 CD and it worked...interesting considering your advice. also i did the "disc at once" option. thanks for the help!

that's great you got it working! yeah easy cd creator 5 caused some weird things on my cd burner, so I went and used Nero 6 instead.. in that program it has to be burned as a data cd, go figure! either way you now have it working! that's the important part.. I was using TDK before, they took a couple extra seconds to load up, the fujifilm loaded quicker, I would assume that is because of the dye color.. oh and disc at once, best way to go, most compatible that way... either way glad it's working now!

no it doesn't recognize m4a files. The 2006 and newer do play wma files. I think the 2008 plays aac as well.
