Charcoal Canister Problem on 2006 Xa..Help!

I have a 2006 xa that I had the check engine light come on in January. I took it in to toyota and they said it had a cracked charcoal canister on fuel tank. After they fixed it the light came on again and this time time they said water was getting into canister and Toyota was working on fix. I have had the light come on 3 or 4 times and everytime I'm supposed to take to Toyota to reset...and each time they say they are still working on fix...and to keep on bringing in my scion to have light reset.
Has anyone heard or experienced this problem? It seems to me that others would be having the same problem on their xa's. I am just getting suspicious of a run-around by toyota...Please help.
thanks

Exact same problem

My Scion XA, is now on it's 3rd canister, after only 1700 miles.

So, in about two more months, it will have done 4 repairs without fixing the problem, then, in my state, that's time for Lemon Law arbitration.

me, too (charcoal canister)

I am relieved in a way to find your posts...I have the same problem and feel pretty much helpless. This is my first new car ever --was supposed to be a great experience and it has been AWFUL! Five times I've had the "field fix" done on my Xa and they tell me to keep coming back! It's ridiculous! ~ And Scion is not offering a recall so I have to pursue the Lemon Law --as if my life wasn't busy enough! ~ Did you get the same story about "the state you live in collects more rain on the roads than other states..."? I did and I couldn't believe it. I'm very bummed that Scion is doing nothing to help me except to say, "Keep bringing in your car for service." ---do they compensate me for the expense of taking off work to sit while it's repaired or the gas money spent on driving there? No. Do they offer me anything --like a new car-- to make this situation better? No. I'm filing for the Lemon Law today and calling a show we have here in Michigan called, "Ruth to the Rescue" -a show where they expose bad products, etc.
Thanks for making me feel better --they actually told me that this was my fault in the beginning and that I shouldn't drive in the rain. Um, OK...

First of all, to get a car "lemoned" it's got to be a little more the a light. It's got to be something that disables the car, not something thats irritating.

I'm surprised to hear your having this issue. I've never seen problems like your saying you have. I'm not saying they aren't happening so please don't take it as such.

I don't know if your local dealer has talked with Toyota Tech assistance but I've got note in my EPC about a few extra things to install along with a canister.

There's a filter------Part # 77706-52011
Cover----------------Part # 77219-21010
Holder---------------Part # 77248-21010

These parts apply to Canister # 77740-52100.

See what you've had done and which canister you've had installed.
Toyota doesn't even have a TSB out on this so i'm wondering if it's a localized problem?

I'm in Iowa so I'm not too far from you.
Feel free to call if you have questions. I'd be happy to help out.
