First Oil Change Completed...Question

well the oil is changed...running good...had alot of trouble getting the oil filter off...could i have just left it on till the next oil change? it probably woundlt make a difference since the car is only 2 months old?..i just put alot more miles on it than usual since i drove to florida(it has 5100 miles..so my question is could i have just left the oil filter on till next oil change with no issues since it has only been a little over 2 months since i got the car? i never had that much trouble getting a oil filter off....so small

nope, the first oil change is very important. All the residual stuff from manufacturing is in the oil filter after the first change, it wouldn't have been good to keep it on.

i know that it is the first but my point was that it has only been 2 months and couldnt possibly be anywhere near dirty at this point...it was all highway miles so that is why i was unsure if it was even worth it to change it out at this point

All it takes is two months, esspecially with your first change. The first oil change on the engine is going to remove ANY residual contaminants in your engine from the building process.

I did my first oil change at 1000 miles and then another at 3000. I'm on a 4000k change schedual now.
