Since there is no real start of the thread I'll go ahead and start it.......

It's all subjective as to whether you think it's a good buy or not. Scions have excellent resale value, reliability, aftermarket, and support. There are a TON of Scion websites all over the net offering advise and showing some neat little tricks that you can do with your model.

The xA is a great little car for someone that wants something small enough to be maneuverable, large enough to be safe in an accident and efficient enough to not take all thier money for gasoline.

Since your on a toyota website, your most likely going to get the same answer from most people here. For a TRUE answer to your question, you'll have to go and drive one yourself. see if it's something you might be able to drive for a long time. determine whether it's what you want in a car and make the decision for yourself.

Thanks for the feedback man, I assumed everyone would say they love it. I was just seeing if the Xa has any minor things that people dont like. Im like that with my 97 camry which has a lot of work done to it. I go to test drive sometime later this week. From what I understand Scion occasionally has small cash back deals. End of the month is the best time to buy tho...

With Scion it wont matter what time you buy the car. Sometimes if you buy one at the end of the model year you can get "Prizes" for buying one but because of pure price, there is never ANY discount offered on the model. if you find a dealer who is offering a cash incentive then they are breaking the Scion Covenant and better hope they don't get caught because they could lose the license to sell the brand.

I love mine. 31K miles and still drives like a new car. Still gets fantasitc mileage, and I still get a smile on my face when I hop in it.For $13K you get Toyota quality, lots of standard features, great mileage, and it is customizable; I don't think you can ask for more than that in the segment it competes in.

There is a lot of competition nowadays in this category.
If I was buying today I would strongly consider the Honda Fit which is similar in size, style, and specs, and it has a nicer interior in my opinion. The Nissan Versa doesn't really do it for me, and the Chevy Aveo just seems too cheap. VW Rabbit and Mazda 3 both look sharp, not sure what the starting prices are. You really just have to do your homework and drive them. Check out reviews online from some of the leading car magazines (Automobilemag.com, CarandDriver.com, etc) for their test comparisons.
Our other new car is an 06 hyundai accent, and although I don't love everything about it, it's a solid little car that gets you a lot for your money. Our 06 Xa has been okay, it is pretty fun to zip around town in, wish I would have added cruise control. It draws attention from many people, good and bad I guess. Co-workers call it the "wedge" or "door-stop" but I get to laugh at their gas guzzlers.

I have a tC, but my fiance has an xA and we love it. It is nice for taking on long trips because of the gas savings. If you fold down the rear seats, you have plenty of room for suitcases and other things. It is a great little car and pretty peppy too when you step on the gas. It has a small engine, but is also extremely light so it can get up and go when you need it to. She really likes it because it is so easy to park in crowded parking lots.

Quality wise, its a good buy. If you are looking for a car with good gas mileage, I would pass.

My Mom, 79 years old, owns an 05 Xa. It is a great little car. I drive it from time to time, and really enjoy it because its a fun car. Her car new was $14034 exactly, but it has an auto-trans, and the weird rear spoiler. I actually was the person that picked the model for her, (not the car with the spoiler on the rear), but a different Scion Xa. Her car is very reliable, and averages in the high 30s for fuel mileage. The car also has a suprizing amount of room for 4 adults. Its not a fast car, but it sure handles like a fast car around turns.
