Putting Crusie on an xA aftermaket.

A friend of mine "accidently" forgot to order his xA with cruise control installed. Him and I are planning a roadtrip of 1200+ miles, and it would be.. needless to say, nice. Can he go back to the scion dealership and have it installed there? Or does he need to get it installed from a 3rd party vendor? Has anyone done this before... cost, time, etc?

Thanx!

Here's a link for one.

same thing as this one

Here's the instalation pdf file. Check it out, if you're comfortable with it, try it out. If not call a few dealers to get price quotes for labor and/or the part.

My buddy with the xA and I visited our local Scion dealer, and asked about putting crusie on his car. The salesman we spoke to on the showroom floor told us it's not an add on accessory. Well no kiding. He told us to follow him back to the service department, where he asked if they had the part, and the person behind the counter looked through a few books and said no. I then asked about ordering the part online, and having it installed there, and the mechanics said if they dont carry it, then they cant install it.

This stinks. I have a friend who would be able to do the install, but if something happened and went wrong, then my bud's warranty would be bad. Why wouldn't toyota carry this as an add on option? Seems odd.

Some dealers do install a cruise control in the xA & xB. Mine will. I think they asked $350 for it. I do not think that addition of a cruise control by the owner would void a warranty. Last November I looked into it and found I could get one delivered for $187 as I recall.
