more top end power?

hey im new here and i was looking at the scion Xa. i wanted this car b/c it looked like a vitz. and in Cali they dont make the HB one. we get the Echo sadan. but in canada there was a lot of those cars and i just fell in love with one. but back at home the only simliar one was the scion Xa. looking at the engine and all i was wondering if you could like switch some of the stuff around like a lsvtec crvtec kind of engine. and like its 1.5 economy car. i was wondering if i can resleeve and bore it out to like a 1.6 or 1.8 or go crazy and sccrew up the mpg to 20 by boring it out to 2.0 plus ahaha. im guessing the gear ratio are hella short since i been hearing at 70 ur revs are high. is there any longer gear ratios? i was into honda/acura and they have the B-series engine with interchagable parts and i been looking for other cars with the 1nz-fe engine that has better parts for this car. i want some longer gear gatio maybe better cams and pistons. im thinking like around 160-170 is good enough. with at leat 120 ft lbs. ahaha just want to do something crazy to this car but safe got to be safe. ahaha.

longer gear ratio will make your car slower.. closer gear ratio will let you run thru your gears faster and stay in your power band better but you lose alot of top end speed (not same as top end power)
