I finally did my first mod to the tC the other day!
theamazingnate and I got down to biz under a street lamp in my neighborhood (cause my garage was full) at about 1am and installed a Creative Compacts short shifter and aluminum base bushings as well as some Speed Source brass shifter cable bushings and a set of their thin brass base bushings stacked on top the CC ones for a lil' extra hight on my ol' TRD knob.
I knew what to expect with Speed Source since I've used their products for years on all of my past Toyotas, most recently their brass bushing kit with a TRD shifter in my old Camry. Carl Crawford's craftmenship and quality are beyond excellent and the presentation/packaging excites me like a kid on x-mas everytime I open a box from them.
I love the throw and the feel of the new CC shifter it's function is fantastic but I gotta say I was very underwhelmed with the product quality when I first recieved it ...since I don't have to look at it tho it doesn't matter... the packaging was a usps box and some cheap blister pack with no way to know if it was actually for the tC and the CC knob reaked of ebayness. There was also rust around all the welds on the shifter. The bushings were nice and like I said already it functions perfectly ...especially for $69 bucks shipped.
The hight is great with the TRD knob and the second thin set of Speed Source base bushings stacked on top the CC bushings and no more slop with the brass cable bushings. All in all I'm completly content and I grin big everytime I punch a gear. It all feels as smooth as my old TRD shifter with metal bushings for a lot less money.
