Need some advice

I'm looking foward to receiving a 2006 Scion tC for my graduation gift soon. I was debating between a Scion and a 2006 Civic Coupe LX, and, after test-driving both, I took the Scion for a few reasons:
  • Better engine acceleration
  • MUCH better interior design... I thought the Honda's design looked horribly bland
  • More intriuging package options
  • While I didn't find the Honda's exterior as bad as some say, it's still tC > Civic
  • And, as for now, a bigger availibility after performance parts... some that don't even void the manufactor's warrenty
Personally, I loved the way the Scion drove. It had better pick-up than I originally anticipated. Some people also bitch about the handling, but it's a HUGE improvement over my 86 Benz SEL. Gas Milage is also a huge improvement, as my Benz (as sexy as it is) gets 13 mpg and takes premium fuel.

However, I have a few questions about my future Scion. First off, while the 7.5 0-60 isn't nothing to laugh at, I'd personally like to give it some more "umph"... with perhaps drilling it down into the 6.5 (or perhaps even 6.0) range if possible. I'm being as realistic as possible with my expectations, as I know I'm not going to get an Evo Killer without dumping thousands of dollars into the car.

If I'm lucky, I have my father's 1999 Jaguar XJR for some real speed if he happens to be in a real good mood that day and a little more lax with some Bud Light (However, I'm not pushing that thing on the streets... no way IN HELL I am taking the risk!!!). Even my rich-ass friend's own 2006 Corvette is an option as well. Basically, what I'm saying is I don't need to push the hell out of my engine to get it to go as fast as it can go. I've already driven cars that are faster than many Scions would ever hope to be (not bashing it at all... just being realistic), and by no means at all do I intend to build a drag car to race at the strip 30 mintues away from my house.

What I would like to know, is can my goal be accomplished with the TRD performance parts offered by my dealer (Supercharger, CAI, Exhaust, ect.), or will I have to go with maybe two or three quick racing mods such as that turbo kit that boots the Scion's hp up to 300. I do want to keep the warrenty if possible, but if I do need to purchase an item like the turbo kit, then so be it.

Another question is about the exhaust system offered by TRD. None of the Scion's at our dealership had one installed, and I was wondering how loud it was. Basically, I don't want to sound like all the millions upon millions of Civic Ricers in our area with their obnoxiously loud mufflers (who, btw, tried to actually take down my friend's vette. That was a fun experience for us !). As long as it doesn't draw massive attention in the lower RPMs I'd probably be fine with it, but it'd be nice to hear what one sounds like before I purchased a kit myself.

This is my first post, and I'd appreciate any responses that anyone has for me. Thanks for taking the time to read my thread!

You're looking at an LX Coupe, I bought my 06 tC over an 07 Si. I'm totally happy with the tC over the Civic.

tho compared to the Si, I wish the tC had a 6spd option. ...still the tC was almost 4k less than the Si and just as testicularly endowed.
