Rim Questions

hey, i got my tC in November and love it. Besides dropping it tho, and some DIY mods, i wanna get rims. A friend of mine told me that 205/40/17 tires would somehow mess up your odometer because its not the correct size for the car (mess up turn-radius) . Anybody got info on this? Anything would be appreciated, all the rim websites have that specific size bundled for a tC, so i think he's wrong--THANKS!

Why would you go down in tire size and not up in wheel size? Your going with a narrower and shorter tire.
You want a 225-40R18.

If you go down you will clock more miles then the car actually is getting because your tires are spinning faster. You will be going 60 and your speedo will say your doing 70. You need to keep the same outside circumferance.

It's not going to mess anything up. All it's going to do is create a larger wheel gaap and turn more miles on the odometer because your wheels are rotating faster when your going any given speed vs what they should be rotating. It's not hurting anything other then the vehicles resale value because it says it's got more miles on it then it really does.

Ohh your fuel eceomony will decrease as well.
