One 10" Fosgate dual voice coil sub in the right size box hits damn hard in my tC ... and I have my gain pretty close to all the way down.

It really depends on what you want it a subwoofer.
Everyone you ask will have a different opinion on what sub is better and what you should have. I personally don't like fosgate. I think they are disposable subs. Blue thinks otherwise and likes his setup. He says they hit hard which is true but I feel they have no sustain which is what I favor. Rockford has never had good sustain I feel.

I'm in favor of kicker Subs. the Solo's are great and you get what you pay for. You've also got to have a great amp to support your Solo.

The Eclipse Titanium is a great subwoofer also. JBL makes some great subwoofers. Blapunkt is also on the top end.

What you'll need to do is reasearch on what you like in a subwoofer. do you want hit, sustain, both? go out and listen to different setups and see which sounds best to you. then you'll find what you like and be able to make a decision based on that.

I can agree with that. I do have a gap in sound with the arangement ... the OEM tC setup lacks lower mids and the dvc fosgate is a bit much. Nice for hip hop but for everything else its so so. In order to make up for this I switch the SSP from Hear to Feel depending on the type of music and I always have the other thingy set to xB.

I like the non flip out ones ... popup the tC cover and theres a nice sexy touch screen.

You gotta watch the size tho, I think some, if not all of the flip out units have issues with the oem cover.

i've been looking at the Pioneer's, Eclipse and Kenwoods...according to crutchfield, they all should fit with no problem.

JL Audio /thread

Great entry level subs all the way up to great monster subs.

That's JL' stealthbox for the TC. WOW! It's a single 10" sub, but their engineering of the box is fabulous. The word that describes the sound from these subs is SOLID.

also it depends on what kind of music you listen to and what kind of box you want. Sealed boxes are good for tight bass, flat response and usually the boxes are smaller but require more amp power. Ported will give you louder, boomier bass, but doesn't require as much amp power because of the port. Ported boxes are more for people that listen to hip hop/rap, techno and rock. You also need a larger box than a sealed enclosure.

There are different views when it comes to bandpass boxes, but from what I've read on other forums, bandpass boxes are very hard to tune. The best way is to design a bandpass around your sub rather than getting pre-fab or pre-made boxes as those are hit and miss. Bandpass boxes though give you maximum slam, but are geared for specific frequencies.

I'm looking to get a 2007 tc and will probably put in a ported box, but I'm debating whether or not to go with a single or dual. I already have a 10" ported box in my corolla.

I would also look into these subs:

You can't go wrong with Elemental Designs.

Best valued audio stuff out there, plus, the guys at the company are great. I have a single 10" in a box under my hatch mat. Both the sub and the amp are entirely hidden and I still have my spare tire.

I would definately check into ED at www.elementaldesigns.com

1 12 inch JL w6v2, in a slot ported box, running off a JL 500/1.... it's not too big, but it'll def. give you enough bass....
