ipod volume issue (dealer installed ipod connectivity)

I have an 07 tC with both an AUX and Ipod connection dealer installed. The ipod connection uses the data cable to connect to my Nano. The problem is, the volume is seriously compromised on the ipod connection. And I have the volume on my ipod on high and EQ off. If I have a cd playing at volume 34, when I change modes to the ipod, the volume is so low, I have to put it close to max to get volume 34 on a cd equivalent sound. And if I want it loud, I listen to it on max. Do other folks that have the ipod connection have this problem? Is there something I can do or is this just a minor inconvenience that is part of the package when you have an ipod connection?

I crank my iPod to max and adjust the volume accordingly from the HU. ...I do the same on my home system too.
