Love the Tc....hate the clutch

When I test drove the Tc, I drove one that had automatic as there wasn't a straight stick on the lot. But I ordered a manual shift. Considering how sophisticated all the controls are on the Tc, I can't understand how they could screw up the clutch which has been around almost as long as automobiles have. This is the most unconfortable clutch I have encountered in over sixty years of driving. When you press it with the ball of your foot, your toes are pushed backwards from the firewall! If you try to compensate by lowering your foot on the pedal, your heel catches on the edge of the floor mat! And I wear only a size 9 shoe! I can't imagine what it must be like for a guy with a size 12!
I'm considering attaching a block about an inch thick or more to the pedal to see if that helps. I regret that I didn't test drive a manual before I bought, else I would probably have shopped around more. As I said, I love the car but the clutch is annoying and begs better positioning in relation to floor and firewall.

I test drove a stick Tc before I bought my Camry and found the same problem as you. Since I have a size 13 EEE, I also found the gas and brake pedal too close together and very hard to navigate. My Camry has properly spaced pedals and an easy to modulate clutch. Much better setup IMO.

I could agree with you. the one solution that I've heard is some of the guys I know have put in clutch stops to help alieviate the problem. The stop prevents your foot from going all the way to the floor. It goes as far as it needs to get the plate away from the disc. Supposed to help with drag racing too.
