hey all. my girlfriend just got a used 2005 tc from an individual. how can i add an ipod hookup to it? should i just take it to the dealer, or add something myself? could you give any links to something?

Just look for a Scion iPod HU ... I've seen them go for about $100+shipping on scionlife.

If I remember right, the ipod headunits from 06-07 will NOT work for the 05 model. you can double check me but I think we tried it here once, by accident, and there was no sound from the radio itself.

thanks guys. i think i found a cable on scionlife, but it's $200. i'm wondering if the blitzsafe adapter i have in my tacoma would work?

well after looking at the manual of the head unit, it says nothing about cd changer controls, which is what the blitzsafe adapter i have uses. (it plugs into the cd changer port on the back of the head unit).

so i'm guessing i need a totally new head unit?

well now i'm reading online otherwise. i googled around, and found tutorials on adding xm radio and they say it does have cd changer controls, which i think is all i need.

either way, i think i'm gonna try and take the head unit out and see if it'll work.

do i have to take out the plastic around the shifter? it's an auto. the tuturials say you do, but they are for manual trans. but if you look here, it says you don't have to.
