Looking to buy used

I'm looking to purchase a used tC in the near future. I want one with side airbags, however these appear to be difficult to find. Is this option just that rare, or are people hanging on to em?

Also, when I go to look at a used one, is there anything specific that I should keep an eye out for? Any specific problems?

Any advice is appreciated as this will be the first car that I have ever purchased.

Thanks.

Just keep a general eye out for anything that could cause a problem. check over the engine, drivetrain. if it's a manual transmission, check the clutch feel. if it's an auto, make sure that it shifts smoothly.

make sure the Title is Clean. There are a LOT of salvage tC's out there. Don't buy a builder by mistake.

If price is a consideration for your purchase remember one thing, APR's are generally lower on new cars then used and used Scions still sell for a mint. You might pay less for a new tC then you will a used one.

I've noticed that the used ones sell for the exact same or more than the new ones from the dealer.

How do I check this. Will carfax or autocheck do this, or is there some public info that I can look up?

I understand about the APR's but I don't understand why/how a used one can sell for more than a new one. I'll keep it in mind, I'm just trying to wrap my head around it.

I'm not sure how or why it happens but I've even seen kbb list the value as higher.

Demand vs supply.

If you want one NOW then you'll pay for it now, otherwise you'll have to wait for weeks.
PS3's go on sale in a couple days. For the first 3 weeks, those who don't want to wait will pay around 1k for it. for those that are patient, they will pay retail price.

By Scion having a waiting list for thier cars and not having substantial in stock inventory they are in essence creating thier own demand. This ALSO improves resale value which is what your expieriencing.

This is true about used scions! I bought my TC back in May, and before that I did my homework on used and new vehicals. You should buy new, especialy when it comes to scion because of the retail value. You actually can get a better deal buying new even at 6yr finiance. plus you know what your getting and the vehical has not been beat or mistreated. Last but not least, there is nothing like the smell of your own new car when You get in it! Good Luck!

they are coming down, extremely slowly, but they are getting cheaper. You just need to know where to look.

it seems that buying a new tc is the way to go. Some of the older tcs even with over 50k miles are just as expensive as a new 2007 tc...
