Tire Defect?

Brand new to the board, and I wanted to see if anyone else has had the same problem I've had.

I bought an '06 tC last September ('05) and put almost 20k miles on it as of the beginning of this November, at which time I noticed the front tires were nearly bald. Sure enough, in the last two weeks both tires blew out and had to be replaced. I've gone in for each and every service at the dealer, where they supposedly rotated the tires. Beyond that, however, is it normal for brand new tires to go bad in less than 20k miles? They are the standard 215/45/17's that came with the car, and I have NEVER burned out or spun the tires like that. Anyone have any feedback?

Thanks.

what tires did you have on your car? What kind of driving do you do and on what kind of roads?

The tires are Yokohama S-32A's. What kind of driving do I do? Maybe a little more aggressive than most. Like I said, I never squeal the tires, but I drive pretty fast. Roads....20% freeway, 10% small residential streets, 70% large city streets. Is that the kind of info you were looking for? Thanks for the quick reply.

They shouldn't go that quickly but I will say the oem Potenza's and/or Yok's are crap. I slide ALL the time, dry or wet.

Any kind of agressive driving will kill tires fast, especially in-town driving. If you do a lot of weaving, starting, stopping, hard cornering, or anything else like that then 20k is probably about right. I do agree the factory tires aren't that great but they'll last you significatly longer if you drive a little less agressive. Since they are a performance tire, they come with no warranty of any kind.

If your concerned about tire wear then what I would do is get a tire with a little better tread life warranty to begin with. Check out all of your options and see what tire might be best for your type of driving and your type of area(rain, snow, etc....)

the stock tires are CRAP! I'm surprised I haven't replaced them yet....

I can get sideways in dry, 100* weather, and that's not normal. And now that it's icey, I am screwed. As far as treadwear, I'm impressed with the potenzas, but everything else sucks terribly about them.

Hey Guys Wuts Up, Im New To This Site I Have A Tc Auto 06 Model. As Far As The Tires Go If U Did Sum Research You Would Find Out That They Are Z Rated(180 Mph) They Arent Ment Too Last Very Long 10-15 Thousand Miles In Some Cases. And The Stock Tires Are Very Expensive I Checked Tire Rack.com And They Were 180 A Piece. I Have Tires For Life With My Dealership And Recently Got A Set(4) Of Bf Goodrich G-force, And There Awsome There Only 130 As Well.

I rolled on my stock Yokohamas for over 30,000 miles. They still had a little tread on them and I did everything with those tires...daily commute, drag race, road race. They were even the ultra high performance Z-rated 18's. You can ask HATEnFATE since he is the one that mounted my new tires haha.
