First of all, please tell me this wasn't on a street..................?

Second, You need to get to know your car before you just up and race it. tC's have power LOW in the rpm range. at redline your WAY above your powerband. Your not driving an SR20 powered car. The 2AZ-FE is not a rev-happy engine.

Since I don't own a tC and a few other members here do I'll leave the RPM's and shift points to them but tell me, is your car making any wierd noises right now just durring normal driving or was it just when you shifted that one time. It might be that your engine mount gave enough that your hit the chassis with some part that might not otherwise move like that.

P.S. You own a Toyota. I would hope you consider yourself above the honda Streetracing stereotype.

I agree - you probably just "bottomed out" your motor mount. Which is hard to do, and could result in a torn bushing, so investigate it.

Second - what year SI was it?

If its the new Si I dont know why you would be racing one. You have no chance against those.

at 40 it shouldn't be too bad, check the mounts and listen to the tranny ... at 60, check for holes.

Rev-match!

Whenever yoiu're downshifting, whether it be to acellerate real quickly, or to engine brake into a turn, you should always try and blip your throttle just a little when you push the clutch. I deally you want it to hit the rpm that your engine will be at when you release the clutch. It helps keep all those hard -harsh engagements out of the question.
