Question Maintenance Required Light, 2006 Scion TC

When the dealership wanted $300+ for the 30,000 mile service on my wife's 06 Scion TC, I said to hell with having their maintenance records, and have begun servicing it myself. Pretending to measure brake pad thickness, rotor thickness variation, brake system flushes, engine sludge protection... it's just not worth the stamp in my book.

At any rate, can somebody tell me the correct way to reset the "Maintenance Required" light?

Thanks.

1. Turn on the ignition and make sure it is on your odometer display, not the trip display.

2. Turn off your ignition. Hold down the trip meter reset button and turn the ignition on. Keep the button pushed in.

3. The maintenance required light will flash for a few seconds. when it turns off, let go of the reset button.

When you turn the key to acc with the button pressed you will see a series of dashes in the display. Each dash equals 1000mi if you keep the button pressed until 3-5 dashes are left visible the maintenance required light will come back on at the interval you choose for the next oil change.
