Exclamation Scion visit - tC SC to be at least $3k!!!

My friend and I went to the Reno, Nevada Scion dealer. They (obviously) did not have a tC in stock, but I left my number and he will call me when they arrive.

I was very impressed by the service. No BS, just a nice chat and information.

He was told by Scion/Toyota that the SC might cost as much as $3,500 installed, though it will probably be less. $2,000 seemed way too low from what he heard.

Other than that, he said end of the month (28th) for the first 2 tC's to arrive, and after that, more and more to come.

He was very excited, as the current 2 are gutless for racing/'driving', and the tC should be HUGE for Scion.

Very good experience, if you have not gone to your local Scion dealer, do so, they won't bite.

we already have the tC here in Long Island, just not the SC yet, the sad thing is I know more about the car than the dealers.

No pricing information for the S/C has been released. The only thing Scion has said is that it will be "suprisingly affordable." Any numbers you have heard so far are nothing more then educated guesses.

Does the type of SC they are using tend to be cheaper than the roots type, like in the rest of the Toyota SC lineup?

Most if not all of TRD's S/C have been the roots type except this unit (tC) that I think they are sourcing from Vortech. If that is the case then the overall cost should be lower due to them 'buying off the shelf' and retro fitting it onto the tC engine.

Cost reductions can be found in them not requiring a new intake manifold to house the blower. This can be the most expensive part since it was casted for this particular purpose. Going with a universal system such as the Vortech will keep cost low enough to be 'surprisingly affordable'. Let's hope so. The less TRD has to manufacture on their own..the better for us.

I have heard that Toyota is working quite close with vortech to produce a s\c that works the best with the tC. But who knows what that means. I was planning on getting the xB and had not thought much about the tC untill I drove one a few days ago. The 2az-fe is perfect in this car! The car is way lighter then a Camry so the power to weight ratio is way better. I have forgotten about the xB and have started looking for performance parts for the 2az-fe. (see my other post in the Camry forum) I am planning on ordering the supercharged tC with-in a couple weeks. The thing is really quick!

I really want to see numbers on the cars preformance with and without the supercharger, or:

-Stock
-Exhaust/CAI/etc.
-Supercharger (everything else stock)
-Supercharger AND Exhaust/CAI/etc.
