tc engine problem...

hello people...
i was wondering if other people with Tc have the same problem as I do. My Tc sputters when I press the gas pedal very lightly. I mean lightly to keep the RPM around 2000 - 2500. Does anybody else have the same problem?

correction to the statement and question above....
The RPM is way below... it should be around 1000 RPM and you should be crusing in order to achieve this. At least going above 20 MPH and in 2nd or 3rd gear and gently press your gas pedal. Oh.. mine is automatic.

No, definitely not.

Well here's what you should do: go to the dealer and tell them about it. If they can't replicate the problem, have them put in writing that you tried to have it diagnosed. This is for your protection, so they don't void your warranty should a problem arise from the sputtering.

How many miles are on it? Just curious.

Having very similar problem with new Tc on cold mornings, manual transmission. Car jerks severely until warmed up. Sometimes it is pretty violent. Dealer has tested car and according to them it does not register fault codes. Dealer says no record of a computer fix for this at present time. Cold startup condition, low engine speed normally in first gear. Anyone else have this experience?

I have an '05 auto tC, and sometimes it is a little jerky between gears when I press lightly on the pedal... Not enough for me to make a case out of, but yeah, I might take it in too now that you mention it...

Cold start-ups are suppost to be excellent starting conditions, but I feel you. Living in thh north, it's freezing. I believe those conditions are to be expected a rough start-up until the engine has had it's fuilds flowing for awhile.

i've read that manual trans tC owners are having this "jerky" feeling.. I would contact scion and make them aware of this. I had a 96 honda civic, was "jerky" in the morning and they claimed it was normal til it warmed up... turns out i had a bad clutch and a defective synchronizer (1-2 shift).. so definitely call scion and let them know, don't take the normal excuse of "oh that's normal".. i have an auto tC and no problems at all in the morning, other than the car holding off the transmission shifting into top gear until the engine is warmed up.. the engine is a little louder since it's cold, but nothing out of the ordinary..

Anyone else having this problem? Cold start, in first 30-45 seconds until engine temp gage needle moves it can be quite a rough ride. This is at very low speed - first gear - and just over idle speed. Thanks!
