IMO the Eclipse AVX2494

It has a built in 20 GB hard drive that copies the cd to its hard drive while you're listening to it. ALso has a memory stick port so you can have quick access to all you mp3 files. ALso amazing sound quality as well. One tip though, wait til April for the 2005 models to come out, they bump the pre-out voltage to 5 volts compared to the .8 volts. But if you aren't running external amps then don't worry about it. It also has an onboard 45wattX4 channel amp.

If you don't want the Onboard HD then the avx2404 is the one to go with.

PM eddiem67, he'll get you a good deal on this.

Now I'm guessing you want the best, you can go with alot cheaper. I don't know your budget.

I was hoping for at least a $1000-1200. My friend got hooked up with an alpine touch screen for 1200. i dunno if that was expensive or not. i just need it for the front where they mount the stock stereo. i would want it to be gps compatible too. i really slick design would be nice. this is what he got

And i was thinking of this one.

Thanks for the tip. cam2xrunner. I'm just waiting for the supercharged tc to come out before i get this car. im already designing my interior and all.

If you like Navi then go for the
AVN2454

I like the idea of a double din unit. it looks like factory and infact is pretty much the same unit as a factory navigation with more features. But wait til the 5 volt preout version comes out if you plan on going with an external amp.

Both of those units you had shown arevery nice as well. Keep in mind you will be well above what you wanted to spend once you've added navigation to the alpine and kenwood units. Another very good option is the Pioneer Avic N1

These go for about 1500 on ebay, also there is supposed to be a replacement coming out soon, the N2.

The eclipse unit will be about 200 bucks more than the pioneer. Both will be much cheaper than adding navigation.

I was looking at the Eclipse AVN2454. This comes with a built-in DVD player? And does this fit nicely in the Scion tC Dash?

Wait for the new AVN 5495 coming out soon, it's going to have built in navigation as well as an onboard 20 gb hard drive, and stronger preout voltage.

I'm so disappointed! The Eclipse AVN2454 says:

"Note: DVD and video facilities are disabled when the vehicle is in motion.
Inserting a DVD will only allow the audio to be heard. "

... under "Audio and Visual Features" link

Is there any In-Car Theatre DVD that can play while the car is running?

Please Enlighten Me... I'm in the market to buy a In-Car Theatre w/DVD Player & AM/FM radio. What Player would bypass this feature of having the DVDs play while the car is in motion? Or if it's the Eclipse, how would I bypass it's annoying features?

For most unit's you just have to ground the parking brake lead, Alpines are a little more tricky. I'm not sure how the newer Eclipses are going to work with grounding the parking brake lead.

A couple of threads I found.

Unfortunately the second link didn't help. But the fisrt link said to connect the Monitor to the e-brake. They had picture, but it old link. Post was made in 2001, I don't know if Eclipse has prevention or will it work with the newer models.
