Drove the DC Tundra today and loved it! But, does anyone know anything about the 06 Tundra? I am trying to decide on whether I should wait or not. I like the 05 looks and performance and they seem to be discounting them.
But if the 06 comes out in a couple of months and offers more towing capacity and better gas mileage for around the same price, I'm going to kick myself!
Anyone with any info on this would be appreciated.
Would not mind waiting so much, but wish I could get some info on the 06 specs a little earlier.
Like towing capacity, gas mileage, what it looks like, and cost difference between the 05 and 06. So far not much info in these areas.
Thats a tough call. I have a feeling that Toyota is going to update the Tundra within the next couple of years and I think that when they do, they will make the Tundra wider, longer and taller.
I also think they will come out with a new V8 that is a bigger displacement (Im guessing a 5.4L or bigger) and I think they will make it a long-stroke motor to give it more low-end torque.
The kicker is that Toyota doesnt usually announce when new vehicles are scheduled to come out.
Unless the vehicle you are currently driving is just about ready to fall apart, I would wait and see what Toyota does with the Tundra.
I have a feeling that they will fix all the complaints that people have had about the Tundra and that the new one will be superior to the old one in every way.
The Nissan Titan is one heck of a truck and I have a feeling that Toyota is not about to let another Japanese automaker show them up.

Thanks for the replies. Your comments sound logical. Thats why its bad to go "looking" for new trucks at the dealer.... its hard to walk away.
I really do like the "refined" ride of the 05 Tundra. I know some don't like this aspect of it, but if you have to drive any distance (350 miles) "refined" becomes very nice. I presently have a 1990 Chevy pickup thats in great shape and is a very tough truck when needing to work locally, but when you drive 350 miles in it that tough truck ride and feel gets a little old. I still love it though.
Thing is when I drove the 05 Tundra, it was so easy and comfrotable I felt like I was driving a luxury car.
I wonder with the bigger vehicle and motor if they will be able to retain this "refined" type ride or if it will definitely become more truck like in ride as will as torque? I guess we will have to wait and see
The news I read says the Tundra will be all new in '07. They are supposed to be offering a bigger more powerful V8 as well as a 3/4 Ton model with an optional diesel engine with upwards of 500 lb/ft of torque for some serious towing.

They have a really good lease rate on the Tundra's right now, my friend got a dub cab 2wd sr5 for 320 a month including monthly taxes with 1k down. Only 35 mo lease too, so when the lease is up you can get the 07 model year with the new body style.
'07 Tundra will be made in San Antonio at the new Toyota plant. It will be 15% bigger and sport a V6, a 4.7l V8 or a 5.7l V8 with about 380 HP! I've seen the concept vehicle (pretty close to final version) and it is going to give Ford a run in the truck market.
