About a year ago I had to replace the first and second stage oxygen sensors on the 02 Tundra. Now, my check engine light has come on again and may indicate O2 sensor problems again. Is anyone else having trouble with oxygen sensors on their truck?
This is the best place to get helpful advice for any Toyota problem one might be having. My problem start yesterday with the check engine light coming on. I didnt really know what to do...the truck was running fine and not making any sounds. I came home and did a search on Yahoo for Tundra+check engine. The first place online it suggested was Toyota Nation. Just about 99% of answers were involving the O2 sensor. One suggested taking my truck to Advanced auto parts and let them hook my truck up to an electronic code reader. So thats what I did. Sure enough it told the story. O2 sensor was faulty. First thing this morning I called the dealership where I purchased my Tundra and asked if Toyota was having problems with the O2 sensors. The service managers reply was what year is my Tundra and how many miles was on it. I told him 2001 and about 64,000 miles. He said Toyota had extended the warranty on the sensors to 80,000 miles. So It looks as if I'm covered. I came close to buying the sensor from the auto parts store at $128.00 but held out for some warranty hope.
I had the same problem before w/ the O2 sensor before the Cat. I have an 01 Tundra.
I just took it out and cleaned it with some Strafe. It's been 3 months so far. No light.

Same thing happen to me. One day last week, the light came on. Did a good search on the web and found the O2 sensor issues. My wife and I bought a 2001 Tundra SR5 2WD on the 17th of OCT, it has 81000 on it. Has anyone heard about the 90,000 8 year extend for Tundra. I am new to Toyota's and bought it because they have a really good history, however; the poss O2 Sensor and the barke issues ( I changed my front pad two weeks after buying the Truck) can of worry me. Should I take it to a local auto parts store and check the codes for the O2. Thanxs...
Read your warranty booklet or ask your dealer. The O2 sensor is an emissions component, and, outside of California, may be covered up to 100,000 miles.

Circuit Malfunction
(Bank 2 Sensor 1)
3 rd owner of this truck, 60000 mile emmissions component in my book. Need to check with dealer to see if it can be fixed, but not in a hurry it is a closed loop circuit. Thanxs
Old issue, I know, but Toyota turned down my request for warranty work even though my Tundra is well below the mileage limit and just 3 weeks over the time limit. I thought this would be a good opportunity for them to step up and say "close enopugh', but apparently they don't work that way. My business is based on going a little farther for my customer. Would have been an easy hit for them in this instance, but it didn't happen. Guess I'll be in the garage today installing an O2 sensor. Oh, well.
Enhansed warranty extending the emission warranty on tundras for O2 sensor failure. I had two O2 sensors fail (bank one sensor one as well as bank two sensor one) within the 8 yrs 80K miliage allowanced which is extended by the manufacturer for the inordinate amount of the O2 sensor failures. Your dealer will not be much help, so call Toyota corporate first and get the proper codes that relate to the "enhanced" warranty, otherwise your dealer will try and charge you. Been there done that. There is a thread in here that talks about it. Good luck
