Unhappy EFI fuse problem please help

I recently picked up a 1986 4runner for a great deal only problem is there is a fuel issue, to start off the 4runner was perfect running condition and then it was parked 1.5 years ago know it only is blowing the EFI fuse and won't start. I first checked my fuel pump and it didn't have any power (bad relay/fuse) so I ran a direct line to the pump to check it and sure enough I could hear it start up and pump fuel but still no start (since no fuse or relay) then I went a got a new relay since that sounded like the problem but still no fix, it is still just popping the EFI fuse, so I have a fuel pump that works when powered directly and a brand new EFI relay as well, but a damn blown EFI fuse that I can't get to work???? Please Please help I am hoping it is something real simple and easy

does the fuse blow when you key on, or crank or what?

if it blows when you first crank it, try unplugging things to see if it then doesn't blow, start with the distributor.

on some of the camrys a noise filter for the radio in the distributor shorts out and blows that fuse everytime you crank it.

USA efi blown fuse

Ive seen distributor/ ignitor and even the coil wires cause efi fuse to blow on 2 different 89 22R E's keep it in mind. look for an old alarm relay too in one of the ignition circuits.

Gen1 EFI fuse problem

Hi,
I got the similar problem with my 88 4Runner as Nick4runner's description. Mine starts up fine. The truck drives normally for about 5 min. and the EFI fuse blown of. I have noticed that whenever I give more gas (acceleracted), the fuse blows of sooner. The EFI is rated at 15 Amps. I usually installed a 30 Amps to limb home whenever that fuse blown.

I have checked for all the electrical shorts and found none. My fuel pump works fine. No clue to where to check next. Any info related to this problem is much appreciated.

Thanks

Check the oxygen sensor wire harnes at the exhaust manifold and front exhaust pipe. NEVER EVER REPLACE A FUSE WITH A LARGER ONE NOT IN A CAR,TV,APPLIANCE OR ANYTHING ELSE.

Gen1

You're right Sidney. Thank you for your advice. It was the oxygen sensor wire close by the exhaust pipe. I found the heat shield under the driver seat cut thru the rubber jacket and grounded the black wire. I discovered this culprit last Wednesday and just got it fixed. My '88 4runner is running beautiful right now. Again, thank you very much.
