Update:

The maplight has now arrived

Here it is, and it has the right shade of gray too.

It came with 5W 31mm bulbs, but thats going to change.....

Comparing a standard bulb and a LED bulb, the LED bulb was borrowed from the dome light for this demonstration. I will order a pair of more powerfull LED bulbs from V-leds on the nex order.

With the lens on

An update of the mounting will arrive tomorrow

Update:

Mounting time for the maplight

Removing the standard mirror

2 extra holes where needed to mount the maplight, there was allready
holes in the metal plate above the headlining so i just needed to cut
out some of the lining.

Volia!

I neede to make a new wire as the original one dissapeared with the old roof
It sure will come in handy in the darker months, Led bulbs will be mounted
soon.

Update #2:

I have now orderd a set of new crystal clear headlights, with E code beam pattern.
These are 30% more efficient than the original E code lamps, im also going to
stuff inn some Philips XtremePower bulbs . Ive also orderd crystal clear wing
indicators.

Crystal clear headlights with parking lights build in. rated 30% more efficient.

The backside.

New clear sidewing indicators (will get LED bulbs)

Update:

Well time to put in the new LED bulbs,

Here they are, the license plate lights and the hvac light are going to get led bulbs for the first time.

This is after i changes to the new and more powerfull led bulbs, the result turned
out really well

The license plate light is the only thing besides the side indicators that havent
been upgraded yet, they used more power then all the led bulbs combined.

The new led bulbs turned out well, nice and white

And now the hvac panle, you can see the light spreader on the image.

The original 1,2w bulb with a green filter over it, a very dull kind of green

And here with the new led bulb, inded very powerfull for being so small.

You can clearly see the difference much more light and a much sharper green color,
but i did get a problem, i got a "hot spot" in the center of the panel that was much
brighter then the rest. I solved this with a blue masking tape i had, it dampend the
light just enough to give a even ligt distribution.

The end result, since the green led only emitts green light the red field turned
into a kind of green/yellow.

The next update will come maybe next week.

I mounted my aftermarket radio on the bottom of the mounting brackets because the drink cup holder hides it when in use and you can't change stations or see what song is on the IPod. Just as easy to mount the other way. Anyways, awesome vehicle. Keep us posted. DRG

Thanks YotaLuver, im just hoping the financial crisis doesnt get in the way for my future plans, if this continues i might have to drop buying a new Hilux and keep on going with my 4Runner for a while. But one thing is for sure, the 4Runner is one of the best cars ive had so far. And as for the player it`s a Pioneer AVIC-D3 2-DIN unit with satnav and everything so not many alternatives on the placement. :P
