Question Can you remove 4runner running boards?

I'm still looking at different 4runners, trying to decide which one to buy, and I keep eliminating options because I don't like the look of those damn running boards........are they possible to remove easily?

Try yotatech.com - the best forum for Toyota trucks, especially 4Runner. Search for "running boards" and you'll be swamped.

Lots of folks over there have removed them - the most common issue being what to do for front mud flaps.

Myself, I have a 2000 4R SR5 w/flares that I bought used and may have had running boards at one point. The rocker panels were (are) chipped badly. I installed some cheap truck mudflaps ($20 Autozone) that I had to cut and pop-rivet, but very happy with them. Toyota does not make flaps compatible with flares.

There are 6 bolt mounted directly to the frame. I know, I had to replace mine after a late night of mud bogging. Very easy to do. I am driving a limited so it looks funny without them on.

flared mudflaps are available for 90-95 4runner

If you get OEM flares or copies of, Toyota does sell mudflaps that are compatible with them. I sell on ebay, flares that are the same as OEM and you can buy mudflaps that fit perfectly for the 90-95 4runner, search for ebay seller blakegeee.
