Will you buy an extended warranty for your new 04 4Runner?

Greetings:

I am wondering if it is worth to buy a Toyota extended warranty for 7 years (i.e 4 years extra after the manufacture warranty ends) 75000 miles for 2004 4Runner Sport ed. It will cost approximately $1000.

Beside regular major maintenance at 15, 30, 60, 90K ect My average mileage is 15000 miles a year max. and I do not tow or go off-road. This SUV will be kept for as long as possible.

Any insight thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Have you used your current warranty at all? I used the hell outta mine.......2 new PCM's......entire new soft top.......3 new catalytic converters.....the list goes on. If you are as hard on your vehicles as I am then that would probably be a good investment.

I bought a "cash-back" extended warranty - if unused I get the entire cost back. Now I'm sorry I did it - I trust Toyota like nothing else, so now I've just tied up that money.

No, extended warranties are not (statistically) a good investment.

No I am not hard on the vehicle as you are JeremyH.

In fact I wouldn't dare to do that at all (standing on 2 rear wheel). My darest thing is to take it to NY city where I can try some enormous pot holes.

Anyway, I don't do off road and towing at all. I need an SUV for two reasons, safety device such as TRAC, VSC, DAC etc in snow storm and cargo capacity for big box like 50" plasma screen, 21" computer monitor, etc.

Hell.......I'd be damn scared to head to NYC!

I'd say that the extended warranty is pointless then.......
