few problems with my 4runner

96 4Runner 63K
It talks to ya when its shut off......something under the hood is vibrating when the engine shuts off, its weird sounds like some sort of pressure built up somewhere, the noise is no where near the engine but the back right corner area under the hood. You guys got any ideas? Or anyone have this problem??

Also my rear brakes are covered in oil/grease, would it be from the differentials or something??
Thanks gregg

Sounds like bad axle seals......can you be more descriptive about where it is coming from?

honestly cant really tell there is oil everywhere, I haven't cleaned it off yet. I just got a peak at it when my truck was up on the lift for an inspection.

If I were you, I'd spray everything down with some simple green and then powerwash it............then watch it for a week or so and see if you can pinpoint where the leak is coming from. However, it sounds like a bad axle seal to me.

I believe the 3rd gens have a TSB out for the charcoal canister for the buzzing noise. Search alldata.com for the TSB.

Also, 3rd gens are notorious for leaking rear axle seals. Check that out before the oil reaches the drum brakes, otherwise you won't stop well and you'll need new brakes.
