I see you live in North Dakota. I know that it is very cold up there. Is it possible that the lock was just frozen?

i thought that to..but why would it randomly work and randomly not work.....and i'm not using the key....i'm using the remote or the button in vehicle......and i can easily move it up and down manually (the lock thingy on the door i mean)

so i don't think its frozen.....maybe it is? i dunno

any other ideas?

bad electrical connection? Maybe a connector is loose and randomly making contact when you hit the button. Could also be that moisture got in the solenoid or on a contact and if it froze caused problems.

Not sure. I have heard that the cold weather will make cars do crazy things. I live in Tennessee- where the temperature rarely drops below 20 degrees, even in the winter. I do remember a few artic outbreaks over the past few years though- when the temperatures dropped to the lower 10s and even as cold as the single digits- which is very rare and considered extremely cold for us. When we get weather that cold- it is usually -30 to -40 up in North Dakota and Minnesota, with -60 windchills. I remember that when we got below about 15 degrees, some of my some of cars would do strange things, or make strange noises (groans) that I never heard before. I do not have any of those cars now, but I do remember when the temperatures were normal- the cars operated much better.
Good luck.
