4Runner Check Engine Light

I have a '94 4Runner SR5 v6 4x4 that the check engine light flashes like crazy when I try a warm start. It turns over fine but will not start. I noticed If I turn the key off and on once or twice the light stops and she starts easily. I have heard how to check the codes on these with a wire, connecting 2 slots in the diagnostic box under the hood. That just makes the light flash faster. I've cleared the codes by pulling the computer fuse. And the light immediatly started flashing when I turned the key the first time. After that it was fine for about 3 days and it is back. It starts a little hesitantly when cold but it does start. It's only after it gets hot or running temp. Any suggestions? I have contemplated taking it in, but that's my last resort. I had a bad experience when I took it in for the recalled head gaskets. They dented the crap out of my radiator and claimed it leaked before they started on it.

Get it scanned to help isolate the problem. I heard some chain stores in the States don't charge for that service.

Yes, getting it diagnosed will help a lot. I'm not sure if you have a Checkers there but if you do, you can borrow their's for a deposit of around $200 or so and when you return it, get your money back, so in other words it's free I've actually taken my truck there once to borrow it and when I told them I had my truck with me, they just ran out and did it for me, saves a lot of time and $.

Auto Zone will check it for free and give you the code....I am sure that you can find the description of the code on the internet.
