rim options for a 98 4Runner

My 98 4Runner came from the factory with 16" steel rims. Can I replace them with 15" rims (OEM or aftermarket)? I want more tire options - at a lower cost - and the OEM 16" rims are a nightmare to balance.

Any advice on rim styles?

Thanks in advance.

You can replace the 16 with 15s. Your balancing issue will only increase with smaller rims/ larger tire sidewalls. People would argue with this but balancing truck rims and tires has always been an issue and will be at least for a few more years, though they are getting better.

No, he CANNOT replace 16's with 15's. 4Runners that came with 16" wheels have larger brakes, thereby factory AND aftermarket 15's WILL NOT fit. This might be different for Tacomas, but no go for 'Runners.
