Newer Toyota 4Runner (?)
Dropped my '99 4Runner SR5 off for collision repair ('99 4Runner rear-ended) and picked up the rental. Turned out to be a '03 or '04 Toyota 4Runner SR5 with the V8. After driving it for a few days now my initial reaction has not changed...
What is Toyota thinking!!! They've turned a nice SUV into a SLV (Sport Luxury Vehicle) or maybe SLUT fits better (Sport Luxury Utility Transubstantiation) Push button 4WD for crying out loud. The only thing I can see that they got right is the V8.
Oh well. My '99 (hopefully) has another couple of hundred thousand miles in her. I can only hope Toyota comes back to their senses, applies the 'KISS' principle and puts the 'Utility' back into the 4Runner SUV model line by the time I'll need to replace my '99.
What's out there now that holds true to the original 4Runner SUV ideal? A good solid 4WD utility vechile without all the fancy stuff.
