Problems with latch in back-98 4Runner

Has anyone had problems with their back hatch not closing correctly? Lately, i've had problems with it closing and I am curious if anyone else has had this problem. Some people have told me it might be a loose wire or a broken latch.

I want to have it fixed, but i'm trying to estimate how much it's going to cost since it's not covered under my warranty.

Any suggestions? thanks!

try visually inspecting the latch itself....does it look to have anything obstructing it from opening and closer.....try spraying some sort of lubricant on it also.....WD-40 works wonders....
