Question 04 4Runner performance parts

Hey all, I'm planning on getting myself a new '03 or '04 4Runner V8 and am looking for a source for TRD parts in the Toronto/GTA area, especially that 4.7L V8 supercharger!

Does anybody know anyone that sells/installs TRD parts in my neck of the woods? Anyone have any experience with this particular SC?

Thanks ya'll for your help!

another question

No one? Well, since there doesn't appear to be any local TRD dealers I'll probably stick with my original plan of importing the SC and having Toyota install it.

This is all down the road however, for now I'll like to start off with the smaller items: intake, exhaust, headers etc. I don't really know much about all this stuff however. Does anyone have any suggestions as to the order I should go about adding/upgrading these parts? I'll save the SC for last (besides I don't have the $$ for that now anyway).

There are TRD dealers in the GTA. Erin Park Toyota is a TRD dealer as well as Don Valley North Lexus Toyota.

The most cost effective way to get TRD stuff is to buy it through the US. The only complication will be to get it here without being robbed by customs / duty. If it's small stuff you could just pick it up on a day trip. For larger items you would need to be a bit more creative. Never order the stuff from the US and have it shipped via UPS! They charge ridiculous brokerage fees.

Check out Jay Marks Toyota for competitive pricing on TRD (located in Texas).

Hope this helps.

Like Bosco said, if you don't wanna get raped by a local dealer, order from the states. There are some tricks you could make use of to avoid taxes if the seller is willing to acommodate (ie. false value, warranty replacement) . Get in touch with Eddie of Kinderhook Toyota in Albany New York. Otherwise, you'll have to smuggle the goods across like me and Bosco

As for install...Basil of T-lex did my SC along with other Camry and 4Runner owners. He comes highly recommended from local members

IMO, that's the opposite of what you should do. Get the SC first. It was designed to be used with a stock engine. Furthermore, it has the lowest dollar to HP ratio of most mods. Thirdly, once you do add the otther mods I/H/E, the effects will be amplified by the SC. Lastly, and most importantly, you'll prolly be broke collecting little mods here and there and will have a hard time saving up for the SC. My $0.02.

I agree with Phi. S/C'n the 4Runner was by far the best single performance mod I've done to a vehicle. The other mods can come later. My vote is to save up for the supercharger.

ps. Just for the record, I would never think of "smuggling" goods across the border" :-)

This is great, thanks guys!

You're right I did read somewhere that the SC was built to work with the stock engine. Conventionally it seems that most upgraders start with the smaller items... or maybe thats just because they don't want to spend the kind of money that SCs cost.

I'm definitely getting it cross border, but like you all said I'll have to be creative in getting it across the border. I was quoted $7700(!) for the SC and install kit + $750 to install from Dixie Toyota.

Are there any other TRD upgrades you would recommend off the cuff, or can you get better/cheaper equivalents elsewhere (for similar $$)?

Oh and thanks for your people recommendations!

I'm not sure about truck parts, but for Camry TRD parts, they're nothing more than overpriced products that simply have "TRD" on them. There's actually a large performance mkt for trucks. Spend some time researching and I'm sure you'll find some equally well built products without the TRD premium.

I installed the supercharger on my '00 Runner for about $3400 CDN (installed myself). Do the research and save some $$$.

Thought so... TRD does rebadge a lot of stuff.

The V8 SC though is just a beast! I wonder what that would be like.... > 350HP, 400 lb. ft... I'm drooling thinking about it.
