I want to buy an early 90's 4Runner or Toyota pickup. The 3.0L V6 that they come with is quite under powered I have found. I dont know alot about these trucks in particular, but I would like to know if you can swap a newer 3.4L V6 into them? If so will it bolt in or does it require a large amount of fabrication? Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

took the words right out of my mouth.

Ivan Stewart"s Pre-Runner had the 350 V8 tucked in there

3.4 V6, go www.outdoorwire.com, I think someone there is working that on a 2nd gen. Also you can fit a 5.0 mustang motor under there too. someone on the board did it. Ive seen 2nd gens with the corvette motor, they are hella fast!!!!!!

3.4 toyota v6 definently! if you want power like a 350, supercharge it... dont BS yourself with all that oooh i-can-soup-up-a-350-even-though-my-car-weighs-more-then-your-house crap. your 4runner could do ANYTHING that most any v8 could do if it has a 3.4 v6.

Which would be easier to swap in? The Chevy 350 or 5VZ?

5VZ all the way. i heard you just need to make some custom motor mounts and a bellhousing for the tranny... im not sure so you'll need to check on that. but definently a 5VZ.
