'96 Tacoma Starting Problems

Well, I've got a '96 Tacoma and recently it's been having starting problems. My first inclination was to try the battery (hey, it's easy) - but that did no good. It will turn over every time but it usually takes a few "clicks" first; turn key: click, turn key back, turn key: click, turn key back, turn key - start! ...I'm guessing it's the starter but I don't know what I'm doing - anyone have any ideas? Is that a good place to start?

Sound like your starter to me because I had the same problem on my 98 tacoma and changed my battery at first and that didn't work and my truck was not losing a charge so I knew it was not my alternator, so went ahead and changed my starter and haven't had a problem with it starting since. You can find information on how to change your starter at Yotatech.com in the tech write-up forums. It was a kind of hard to change because the space to get the starter out is really small so you have to remove a lot of other things, so you might want to get it done at a shop unless you are up for the challenge.
