tacoma lifespan?

how many clicks do a tacoma do b4 the engine goes, i asked because so many used ones going for 0ver 10Gs canadian and got 275,000 KMS on the engine (170,000 Miles) and if it can go another 50-100000 with ease then ill rebuild the engine

i abused my 3vze and did 50,000 in 8 months with a leaking something on the engine (cuz i seen oil on my diff all the time) oil pump stop working 20,000kms in, and i was putting 3L of oil when i think it actually took 4.5, also i drove at 140kph (87mph) 75% of the time, i redline the engine like i hated the truck, and i know that that was one of the bad engines toyota produced, so if i can do that will the tacoma handle me?

I'd say you have at least 30,000+ left in her

it all depends on how it was treated and maintained. my dad's 98 tacoma has 270k miles last i checked. it runs flawlessly and all he's ever done is tune ups, oil changes and timing belts, but- he did them religiously. they can go for a very long time indeed if treated well.

they will last till you quit wanting to repair things. mines got 200500, but the guy who had it before me did a bad rebuild and i swung the engine at 146000. replaced rear leaf springs because middle one was broke on the driverside. replaced both front calipers @ 180000. oh and lots of oil changing. 1 set of tires. thats about it, had a minor oil and coolant leak but that stuff happens on anything, just fix it before it turns in to a big problem.

also i do 5000 mile oil changes, but i do a lot of high way driving, 200 mile just to work and back, minimum a week and then theres dragging bikes, goin out and other stuff.
thats my input.

My 1991 had over 387,000 miles on it when I sold it in 2002. I still see it around town from time to time, have not been able to talk to the owner though, I would like to, maybe buy it back and make it a trail truck.. I did 10-12 K oil and filter changes.

It is like anything mechanical, if you treat it correctly and do proper maintenance, it will last, if you do not, it will not.

My dad owns a farm and pretty much the only trucks we use out there are the older toyota pickups and Toyota Tacomas, and the reason being that they LAST! in about 5 years my dad will easily put 250,000 miles on a truck, and then they use it as a field truck or what ever job they may need it for. even though at about 250k they start having issues with the 4x4 and many other things. but they can last to 250k+ miles if well taken care of! so i'd say that still has some life left in it!

My dad's tacoma has 280k and it's a 91. my friends has 370K in a 1982 Pickup toyota and he's a hard core off-roader. so he beats that truck and it keeps going. So they last forever haha

tacomas resale price life expectancy

Just joined this site after doing some surfing. On my 4th Tacoma, no intentions of purchasing any other brand truck. Still actually have my first tacoma (97) that i purchased used (was a year old when I bought it with 3000miles on it, (kinda attached to it) ext cab automatic 390,000 miles (original engine/tranny and still going strong (just normal maintenance timing b/water pump, use this for reg errands now , also owned a 01 extended cab that I purchased new which I traded on a new Tacoma 4 door in 05 (Best trade in price I ever expected when trading in at a dealer.I org paid around 21000 for the 01 new and got 15000 on trade after 4.5 years and 105000 miles, Sold the 05 i mentioned just recently with 155,000 miles (although goes without saying , it was running like a top) for $15800 and the guy who purchased it was more than tickled. I mainly am posting this as the resale value is extremely high and pays off!!!! Only reason I sold that 05 was simply because I wanted a different color, and wanted to upgrade to the JBL sport 4 door version in my 2011 which I picked up last Thursday. Overall as many repeatedly comment on "Best trucks I ever owned", and a vehicle you will actually get "Life" "performance" "next to never issues" and oh yea did I mention "resale/retain value" . The only thing I do wish Toyota would do (just as a toy) would be to have a moonroof avail as an option on the higher end JBL sport model. But that is and has been my only desire that my tacomas don't have.
