USA P1300 code coming up

My 2000 tacoma 4x2 recently got a new motor put into it and it has a P1300 code coming up. The original wiring harness was used for the new motor. The cyl. 1/4 coil pack has been swapped out with a new one. This did not fix the problem. I understand the code to mean an open and or short in the wiring between the ecm and the inginitor. What should I do next?

P1300 is a Toyota specific code associated with the following potential faults:

Ignition system
Open or short in IGF or IGT circuit from igniter to ECM
Igniter
Ignition coil
ECM

Because the stock harness was disconnected / reconnected (right? - no modifications / new ignition-related wiring?) I'd suspect a loose connection / never-reconnected connection / short / crimp in the harness itself. The only way to check for such a fault is to physically trace the lines and check the connections.

Otherwise, it could still be a problem that's actually somewhere in the ignition system or even the ECM itself.

P1300 code

So, what it sounds like you are saying is that I have my work cut out for me. All that you listed I read in my manual, but was trying to get an idea on a more specific first step. But I did notice that three day's ago I was inspecting the harnness wiring that feeds the front coil pack and I checked the front coil pack connector. I softly wiggled it, and moved the harness gently around all the back to where it becomes big by the addition of more wires. I did this trying to close an opening in the wiring or disconnect a short. Since that day I haven't had the check enigne light come back on. I'm just afraid to have to open up the harness and trace being that it is inside of the factory plastic body that protects it. Any more suggestions for me before I embark on my voyage?

If you have the wiring diagram troubleshoot the wires that send the IGF signals to the computer.

You can download the overall wiring diagram for a 2000 Tacoma at:

http://www.*******.com/fsm/2000/index.html (scroll to the bottom of the page)

Unfortunately, this particular set of FSM documentation only offers the separate engine control wiring diagram for the 6-cylinder engine.

... And if you download it, also download the 'How to Read' file that explains the symbology.

P1300 code

Hey thanks alot for the help with the diagram. But what does IGF stand for? Also, I am also trouble shooting a problem with the noise coming through my stock radio. It has never been messed woth and worked fine before the motor swap. I am getting the sound of my motor coming through the radio on certain out of twon stations. If I accelerate the pitch goes up, at an idle the noise goes down. Any thoughts?
