I know this is kind of hard diagnosing on the forum without looking at the truck but maybe someone will say "Hey I had that very thing happen to me".
Sometimes when I turn right, I hear loose metal/clunk noise from-it seems like it is coming from under the floor of the pasenger side-up towards the engine. it is a clunk like a very loose piece of metal. it only does it once and just for a moment, and then it does not do it again for 1 day up to 10 days. It always seems to do it when i just start turn right onto the freeway after work. or after my cars been sitting for a while. I thought is was a heat shield poping back into shape, but none of them seem loose. every once in a while it will happen when i turn left, just not as loud. i've seem to be having this problem ever since i had my entire exhulst system replaced (pipes, catalitic converter, muffler). I checked all over and under and I could not find anything loose. my mechanic checked out the car last month and said he didn't see anything loose but did say my rack-n-pinion steering was leaking and needed to be replaced.
would leaking/bad rack-n-pinion steering make a loose metal/clunk kind or noise? I do still have fluid though.

Wouldn't hurt to check xmission and engine mounts. Never happened to me but my son said that what he thought was ball joints was diagnosed by dealer (under warranty) for a Tundra as loose mounts. They said it was common.

If you're sure it only started after the exhaust was replaced I wouldn't go spend much time looking else where. When a noise starts up just after a repair, guess what? It's usually the repair.

Did you go from the cat to the engine?

How about the steering stops? Did you check that and put some grease on them?
