I owned a 1983 22R that had a chain. The front of the 2004 Tacoma engine bears a similarity to the older 22R motor. It looks like the 2004 Tacoma 2.4l also has a timing chain vs. a timing belt. Could someone confirm this? Thanks for your time.

The 2.7L is much stronger though and is pretty close to the 3.0, performance wise.
