2004 Tacoma Xtracab (6 cyl) loud above 3000rpm

I bought a new 2004 Taco Xtracab two weeks ago. I noticed the engine is pretty loud at about 3000rpm. I have no indications that something is wrong but I was curious if this was a characteristic of this vehicle.

its probably the muffler.... that is the start of the power band and it gets louder from there... I have a flowmaster on my taco and on my 4runner but I like the noise.

I have an '04 TRD V6 5 spd. Same thing. Over 3000 rpm the engine seems a little noisy, but it's not a bad noise...it likes to rev in that range. If you don't have any strange sounds (ie. knocks or pings, etc), just general loudness, it is normal - just enjoy that sweet four-cam howl!! Toyota just went a little light on the sound deadening between engine compartment and interior, that's all.
