Hey guys Im thinking of getting a used car as a project. WHat are some good cheap cars I could look into? Im thinking mid to late 80s corolla, tercel, tacoma so far. Also what would be the best way of insuring 2 cars? Thanks
A late 80s celica with a 3sge. i think its a ST164 and had 103kw? it has a higher power output than a ST205 with the 5sfe and is heaps lighter without modification (dont quote me on all the codes) but yeh, would be a nice sleeper that could become a monster.

I myself am looking for a 1974 Toyota Corolla SR5 to restore.
I have had 2 of them in the past and I want to find one to restore to
factory condition. There isn't enough of those old Toyota's that are
getting restored and soon there won't be any left.

that's becuz parts are dam near impossible to find for restoration purposes, and costly as all hell if you can find them...unless you live in australia or something...even then they are still pricey... (well at least for my 77 celi they are)
If the car does run tho, take the insurance off your car now, insure the project car for a couple of months, then reinsure your newer car, that way it will be considered your secondary vehicle, and insurance will be a lot cheaper on it, and insurance should be pretty cheap on the old beater car that is now your project car.
Id go with a 70's celica, but if you cant find one then I like ^Evil's idea of a gen 1 mr2

this may sound a little strange, but this is what im looking to do for a cheap project down the road (try not to laugh)... buy a pre 1974 MG and install toyota guts (motor, trans, wiring...). so then you end up with a cool looking 2 seater british sports car that is actually reliable! now if only i can convince the wife to let me start doing this now...
what are they like? Dunno anything about them... also what are the ae86's and mr2s like? what do u guys think of an older toyota truck??
ALso forgot to say 5 speed..
Cressidas are awesome. RWD, powerful, luxurious. It's the 4 door Supra! Older Toyota trucks are awesome, too. I love the gen 4.
