Some already know ... but the tC was declared totaled two weeks ago.
Had a rear tire slip a bead at speed on a fly-over ramp between interstates causing it to spin and hit both walls. Fortunately I walked away with only minor injuries (hands, head, back and neck).
Insurance has been great and they're paying out with no hassles but I couldn't stand the rental they stuck me in and neither of my trucks are daily drivers for various reasons so, I went out and bought a Volvo wagon.
Don't be fooled, sure it's safe but it's a monster with a straight six, six speed, twin scroll turbo, AWD and with the Polestar tune I'll be adding soon ... 311hp and 354lb/ft.
I was looking at an '08 FJ but the interior was cheap looking and this was loaded to the tits with everything Volvo offers sept Active Bi-Xenon headlights and going for the same price.
For old times sake...

Nice, keep us posted on the Volvo. That sounds like a sweet setup! I think Volvo's are underrated, then again I know they are consider tier 2 maker. We'll see what the future will hold as their line got smaller and what or if they will fill it back up with product.

Indeed, a T6 wagon isn't something to laugh at, I approve because a twin turbo straight six wagon is way cooler than any CUV including the XC70s. The trouble with Volvo is the perceptions of the old ones. Volvo has tried hard recently to change perceptions with things like the C30 which is a pretty good car but expensive and now discontinued. The new V40 looks great(completely makes up for the C30's death), so much so I think the sedan S40 won't look as good...but because this is North America we're probably never going to see it.

..isn't it suggested that European makes become more expensive to maintain in their 9th year?

I have a soft spot for the C30. More so the "refreshed" version. Love it! Especially in R-Design spec. Sure it may not be as "sporty" as its competitors but idk, I like cars that aren't as popular or what everyone buys. Yes the new V40 looks sharp too!

Maybe that was just you. Never heard of that...I figured you would be enraged he didn't get another Toyota or Toyota product

With Polestar recently becoming the official race R&D of Volvo they are certainly stepping up their game. Polestar tunes are available across the T5/T6 line and are fully covered under the normal Volvo 100k mi warranty. Typically it not only changes hp and tq specs but also the shift points and throttle response and all with out changing the fuel consumption or emissions.
I recently had the pleasure of driving a bone stock 2013 S60 for a day while my XC70 was in for some post sale work and holy shit is it fast. It has the same T6 and AWD as mine but weighs less and when you kick it outta Drive, into Sport the dynamics of the car change like Jekyll and Hyde! ...and that's just with more agressive automatic shift points and sharper shifts. You still have Manual mode and the FourC active suspension settings to play with! Plus there's an R Design model as well as the Polestar upgrade.

I loved your car Eric, I'm so sad to see it gone, old school TNer's seem to fall on bad shit often for some reason. I like the Volvo.....very good choice

Wow, glad the car sacrificed itself so you didn't have to. Hope you have happy trails with the Volvo. Did see the Polestar S60 at the recent LA Auto Show. Sweet car if you ask me.
I threw my rack and basket on the roof the other day and I'll probably tint the front windows to about 35% but I'm on the fence about stance... not sure if I want to give it a mild drop and leave everything else stock or toss on a set of 16" Tellus wheels and BFG A/T knobbies like this guy did... (or I could fit a set of 235/65 knobbies on the oem 17s)
...Bad Swede Auto Systems makes 52mm lift springs for it too. Don't think I'll go that route tho. lol. Surprisingly the XC70 is a pretty good off roader even on stock street tires.

+1
If you are going to mod it, I vote go for that rugged look. It looks pretty mean (can't believe I just said a Volvo looks that way ) with those offroad tires and black'd out rims. Though I'm biased as I'm not a huge fan of lowered cars.
I love the rugged look too, and I'm ready for a change. Especially now that my '51 is slammed and getting hotrodded.
Just can't decided between the Yokohama Geolander ATS on my oem 17s or the BFGoodrich A/T on those same oem 16s posted above. The stock tires on now are massive 235/55-17 Continental 4x4 Contacts (27.6" diameter, 9.25" width and $208 ea). I can fit up to a 28.6" diameter without issues.
The Geolander in a 235/60-17 is a pretty rugged lookin tire. Could look good with the stock 17s spaced out a bit.
For now tho, I'm going to drop the cash on the Polestar tune and maybe toss on some spacers (15mm F and 20mm R). These 4x4 Contacts still have a ton of life left in em.
