1 or multi piece wheels ??? what do you think is best ???

Hi guys

I am planning to get a new set of wheels for the up coming spring and summer.
Since my old 5zigen CRACKED !!!!
I am planning to to get forged wheels this time lol

btw, i am not 100% sure. Does Volk Racing only make forged wheels ??????
and a lot of people think multi-piece wheels are better, so how come that is the case ??????

2 or 3 piece rims are sturdier than 1 piece making them a crowd favorite...

but forged 1 piece wheels should be able to withstand some pretty vicious potholes...

if you're looking at volks i vote for sf winnings...

I'm pretty sure it's the other way around. 2 and 3 piece wheels are less strong (fasteners can't be stronger than one continous section), but they make it easier to make custom offset/backspace wheels; are easier to fix when damaged (just change the damaged part); and can use a forged barrel and cast spoke section.

1 piece wheels are stronger because they are one piece; usually lighter because you don't need to add hardware and extra material for mounting surface to mount the spokes to the barrel; and personally, look a lot cleaner than multispokes (unless the fasteners are hidden in the back)

went over a pothole on the 401 west near Yonge. (HATED THAT SECTION) and bam, the entire spoke cracked.
and i'll never go back to 5zigen again.

Kaismmmm: is going on a Gen 4 =)

I like the TE37 but it doesn't look that great on my car. I am thinking for the Work Emotion or some SSR wheels but i still have a thing for Volks lol.

The SF winning is nice but no 17s. i think is at least 18", my car is a 4 cyl, my car wouldn't move after i put 18" on lol

sorry, i was mainly comparing the normal practices of multi-piece wheels (which i thought were normally forged sections that are bolted together) and normal practices of one piece wheels (gravity and low pressure casting of aluminum)...

but BenG you're right when comparing cast multi-piece to cast aluminum...
