Hey truck owners

I'm new here. I've had my truck for about 4 months now and it's probably the greatest thing I've ever purchased. Is this the most active messageboard? It seems like it gets a lot of traffic with some knowledgable posts. Anyway, here's a couple of junky pictures of my '94 4X4. I'm trying to get some better ones to make a cool signature for myself.

hmmm, I'll try to resize that first one. You can see all of the bugs.

edit: well, that's a little better I guess.

nice looking truck, now all it needs is 7 inches of lift and some 35x15.50 swampers........ 5.29 gears with an arb air locker in the front lsd in the rear and after that new cv joints every 10k miles or so...(eh it looks sweet and youll have a heluva lotta fun in the mud). or to prevent the cv axel thing swap to a solid axel (sas)... heh!!!!

im just messing ,but if it were mine id probabally be doing what i said, if its a daily driver id go no bigger than a 33" tire or at biggest a 35x12.50.. 33x12.50 is a good size for on/off road and you can run those with a simple 3 inch body lift or a 4 inch ball joint spacer and blocks in the rear. if you run 35'' tires 7 inches might do ya better... there are lots and lots of options... i like pro comp suspension kits because the price is jam up... but the skyjacker and super lift kits are supposed to be better quality and for the price they better be......shoot , for that price they should install themselves and service below the border too...

I don't why you call it junk... Looks pretty nice to me.

It's nice to get one that hasn't been screwed up by some idiot... That one looks stock.

Great find.

Welcome to the forum!

NICE looking truck! Don't change anything about it...I like your cow pusher!

I'm in your area (S. MD) --I have a /94 as well. Do you have any issues you want to address? Is she running well? What kind of mileage do you get?

Oh I didn't mean to call my truck junk. I just meant the pictures I took were. In that picture the front tire does look low. I think it's just because I'm parked half on a sidewalk though. I'll have to check it though. As for mileage, it sucks, I get like 18mpg highway. What's normal for the V6 on this truck anyway? It does have 128k on it so I guess that's to be expected. Plus I didn't buy it for fuel economy.

One question I did have. Did these only come with 2 speakers or do mine in the back just not work? I can barely hear the radio at 65mph.

V6???

I suggest you do a search here and on Yotatech for "blown head gasket" and keep a lookout for the early signs of one...

I think there may have been a recall on the head gaskets too. Make sure yours has been done if it was under the recall.

On those motors the repair shops are getting $2k to do the job...

18 mpg is about average, and in fact is pretty good considering some on this forum only get 12 mpg...I get about the same as you. I'm due for an O2 sensor, which will cause a degradation in fuel mileage.

I have the V6 & had the HG recall done @ 92k in 2000. I've had no head problems since then and I just passed 201k! Your 128k is just broken in!

Yes the factory sound systems suck. I added a Kenwood system from HELL in mine; you can hear it at ANY speed!

Thanks for the heads up on the headgasket. I did a search but I couldn't find how to know if that recall has been performed. I've got a buick that had the power master recalled and when they were finished they left a yellow tab on the master cylinder for all future owners to see. Did Toyota do anything like that?

I want to say there's a sticker inside the door but I'm not positive.

I have the 22re so I just have to worry about plastic timing guides breaking and jumping the timing so that all of the valves can get bent.

Oh wait, I'm sorry. I don't have to worry about that any more 'cuz it already happened.

Call your local dealer with the VIN; they can look it up in their system. Also, did you have the recent steering idler recall done? They can tell you that as well...

I'm on the waiting list for that recall. Projections at the dealer tell them I'm up in August. I was impressed with Toyota's ability to track down current owners of the trucks. I had only had it for about a month and I got that notice in the mail.

If you've ever had it in the dealership for anything or you bought parts and gave them the VIN, they track them by that number. Since these trucks last so dang long, it's worth their time to keep up with them so they can tap you for any repairs/parts/etc.!
