Maintenance After Sitting

I have a 1992 Pickup that I inherited from a deceased family member. Aside from the short drive a few years ago from a relative's house to my garage (after a new battery it started right up - the 22RE legends are true), this truck has been sitting still for nearly a decade. I want to make this vehicle safe to drive on the street again so I can give my VW GTI a break on mileage.

It hasn't been registered or inspected since 2007. I have changed the battery and the oil so far. It starts and runs great while sitting in the driveway, but I'm still wary about driving it. What else should I be concerned with on a vehicle that has been sitting for so long? I'm not sure I trust the tires anymore for that matter.

Change the brake fluid ASAP, same with transmission fluid especially if you have the automatic. How about brake pads/shoes also any rust?

Check for Mice or squirrels infiltration into the truck.

They love diagnostic ports. Diagnostic Port
