.

take a peek at the throttle body and see if it is clean, new air filter helps also. make sure the throttle linkage stop is adjusted so the throttle body isnt open. check for all moving parts around the throttle body. i hope that helps because after doing that, i achieved in lowering the idle RPM, and then after cleaning, i have a more responsive and cleaner feel on the gas pedal

The idle is controlled by the "Idle Control Valve" inside the throttle body. When it gets clogged up by carbon from recirculated exhaust gas (thanks Toyota engineers) it tends to stick.A good cleaning should remedy this. There are throttle body and intake manifold cleaning kits available.Using such a kit can free up several ponys plus add to throttle response.

=] basically what i put, but thanx for sharing the info about the kits. yesh cleaning the manifold and TB will do alot to increase power. i will be cleaning the manifold sometime soon. i will try to get ahold of a camera to show you guys how it goes. if not, i will note parts that might get in the way and how to solve anything that goes on. happy trucking you all

I own a 89 pickup with a bone stock 22-re it has almost 190,000 on the truck. Here is my problem the truck shakes like crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!! now here is some more info. The rear end went out in it last winter which is when it started to vibrate. so I replaced the rear end in it with one from a junkyard pretty simple fix. The truck still shakes. I though it was from the rear end so I went down to the shop and asked my mechanic what could it be? he said try flipping your drive shaft 180 degrees so I did and it still vibrates I notice it everywhere in my steering wheel and it shakes my ash tray out it rattles my sliding rear window and it does it pretty much at all speeds not enough to scare you but when I am accelerating from right around 40 to 55 mph is when it gets a little hairy. any ideas or suggestions? such as new tires clutch balance the drive shaft or new ball joints something thank you

also the rear end in the truck is a 4:10 right? what if by chance I put in a different gear ratio would that affect it? and how can I tell if it is a 4:10 rear end?

About 90% of all the trucks came out 4:10.If it's auto trans or factory oversize tires or both you might wonder. My truck shakes alittle.Shocks, broken belts, heavy ply tires or bad u-joints can cause vibrations.

Isn't the typical cause of rough idle with brakes applied the brake booster? If the vacuum line to the booster is pinched closed does the problem persist?

mine has not shut off but it seems to do it after high speeds or if its kept in high revs for an extended amount of time. it has new spark plugs and a fairley new air filter. ive cleaned the throttle body numerous times. it only does it in cold weather
