So the local uhaul is selling their toyota pickup, has dually tires in the rear and Im curious if theres anything interesting about these trucks that makes them worth going after or different than a stock 2wd.

Heavier suspension, better brakes, low gears, not to mention the cool factor!

buy it and rip off the duals and put 20" wide drag slicks on it, and then drop an LT1 SBC under the hood...

I have no idea why I just said that...

Yeah both women and trucks don't hold up too well to that kind of abuse...

haha Yeah, Uhaul Toyotas are pretty much the Pam Anderson of the group...love the trucks and looks/coolness of them, but wouldnt touch it with a 10ft pole.

The dual rear wheel 1-ton has totally different suspension than the single rear wheel model 1-ton that I have.
Just look at the wheel mounting bolt pattern on one....

If you could get one for 300-500$ it *might* be worth it for spare parts....but thats about as far as I would go with one.

2400 ouch, though they have been maintained and new engines placed in them come with full records for 3 years back. The guy I talked to said they had sunk over 40k into each of the two they had since 1989 in upkeep.

Do you really want a truck that has cost the owners $40k since they bought it to keep it running?

Do you have that kind of cash?

40k could mean anything, it could mean they just outright replaced anything that looked like it needed it and did a great job of keeping it running, or that it broke all the time. 2400 isnt something I feel like dumping on a box truck anywho, rather it go into my impreza.

It must be a national sale of old toyotas.

The U-Haul facility here also has a couple for sale.
