Question starting issue

Hi,
New to the forum , so I hope I can explain this in the correct way.
I drive a 1994 PU w/22re engine w/AC, 5spd, 4x4. I am having a starting issue that is difficult to diagnose. When I start it in the morning it kicks over without a hitch, and drives perfectly. The issue is if I let it set for a short period say 2-3 hours or less it takes several or more cranks to start. It also will start given these cranks if I push the pedal once, or turn it off , and try again after 3-5 seconds. Usually after it starts up after warm or sitting for awhile it feels sluggish, kinda like bogging, less power too. I am sure the timing is dead on, all VSV for efi and mfi spec out, the temp sensor is new, and all vacuum lines are good. The injectors are in spec, and they tick in rhythm. the FPR ticks like it should and the CSI is within the spec range. New plugs, wires, battery, rotor. I am kinda concerned because I do not want it to raise its head , when I really need it. I have read many threads and have FSM for it, just can't seem to nail it. MPG could be better, 13-16 per gal. Any help is needed and appreciated.

First off your mileage with a EFI is the pits. I routinely did 20-22 in my 86 4X4 even with over 300k. I am assuming the truck cranks well, not slowly. Make sure the fuel pressure is 33 psi or so. If not PM me, your fuel pump may be on the way. Also you can see if the fuel pressure bleeds off after a few hours. leave the gauge on and check it again in an hour. The reading should be at least 20-25. Make sure your pulsation damper isn't leaking.

Here is a something to start with, no pun intended. First use either NGK or ND plugs with oem cap, rotor and wires. Gap plugs at .035. Pick up 2 cans of BG44-k from a dealer or store. Look for BG products online if need be. Put both cans in with a full tank of fuel. Remove your cold start injector and clean it with carb cleaner. Remove the intake tube and clean the throttle body thoroughly. Use an old tooth brush if necessary. Spray cleaner on a rag or the brush, do not spray directly into the intake. Start the truck and let it warm up and idle. With a timing light jump Te1 and E1 at the diagnostic connector. Make sure the timing mark moves. If it does set timing to spec if off. If it does not move shut off the truck. With a DVOM back probe the IDL and E2 wires at the TPS. They are usually black and brown but not always. Consult a wiring diagram to be sure. Turn the key to the on position but do not crank. Make sure the throttle body is fully closed. You may have to have a helper keep it closed. Loosen the TPS screws and turn it till the voltage reading just goes to 0 volts. Tighten screws. Recheck timing and adjust if necessary. Last disconnect the battery ground cable and wait 10 seconds. Touch the ground to the positive for about 30 seconds and then reconnect. Drive the truck somewhat hard for at least 10 miles. You should see improvements in the mileage and the starting within 100 miles. You may also want to consider a pressure cleaning of your injectors as well.
I hope this helps.

check your fuel pressure during the symptoms.

Fuel pumps can have several different modes of failure, and you have described one of them.

Yes, I see you did.

I started to make that post, and got distracted for a couple hours and when I came back to the computer I posted it and never looked back.
